Tour of Bulgaria winner Ján Wenczel is a Czech. Slovakia is independent since January 1; 1993. In 1966 Slovakia was part of Czechoslovakia. As both Czechoslovakia & Slovakia were invited, Ján Wenczel won the overall ranking under the flag of Slovakia. Ján Svorada (sr), born 31.03.44, here, winner stage 9; finishing 11th overall, is the father of Ján Svorada (jr), born 28.08.68, the greatest Slovakian rider of all time…….that is to say before the arrival of Peter Sagan !, 1990 Peace Race/Course de la Paix winner; 1994 Grand Prix du Midi-Libre winner; 3 Tour de France; 5 Giro d’Italia; 3 Vuelta a España stage wins. Ján Svorada (jr) is the father of Ján the III, born 20.01.92, also a rider (in a continental team) For the 10th consecutive year, Stefan Neytchev finishes in the top-20 of the Tour of Bulgaria (1958/10th) (1959/5th) (1960/12th) (1961/6th) (1962/12th) (1963/8th) (1964/2nd-his best ranking) (1965/18th) (1966/9th) (1967/5th).
