Team MILRAM continues to suffer from a string of injuries.  Young MILRAM rider Artur Gajek is able to return to racing in the International Bayern-Rundfahrt, but on Monday the management of the German ProTour team learned that two other riders will lose time due to injuries.  The Italian riders Luca Barla and Fabio Sabatini must now take a break following crashes.

Young MILRAM rider Luca Barla crashed on Sunday in the final stage of the Volta a Catalunya and suffered a painful shoulder injury, which will force him to rest for several weeks.  „The doctors had to put his dislocated shoulder back in,“ said MILRAM manager Marlies van Gerwen.  „He will wear a support bandage for the next two weeks and not be able to race again for a month.“

Fabio Sabatini injured his knee in a crash in the Giro d'Italia but continued riding with pain until leaving the race last Friday.  „X-rays showed a cartilage problem.  Fabio will not train for a week.  Then we will see,“ Marlies van Gerwen said.  „Our streak of injuries just doesn't seem to end.  No sooner can one rider start racing again, than another has to stop.“

Team MILRAM must continue to do without Martin Velits.  The twin brother of U-23 World Champion Peter Velits broke his wrist in a crash in the Ronde van Vlaanderen, and cannot race again until the end of August.

Artur Gajek is finally able to return to racing again, though.  The rider from Cologne, Germany will make his comeback at the International Bayern Rundfahrt, after he suffered a painful bruise on his buttocks in a crash in the Tour of Turkey.  Previously, MILRAM captain Erik Zabel and allrounder Ralf Grabsch missed racing due to knee problems.
