Paul Voss starts in German cross championship
Milram newcomer Paul Voß faces his first big highlight of the new cycling season this weekend. While his teammates on the Dortmund-based ProTour team are training on sunny Mallorca, the cyclist from Rostock will face temperatures below freezing on Sunday at the German national cyclo-cross championships.
The Milram rider, along with youngster Phillip Walsleben (BKCP-Powerplus) of Potsdam, is one of the favorites to take over the title from Malte Urban, who retired at the end of 2008.
„My goal is clear. I am going to the championships to win. If it is only enough for a podium place, then I will be happy with that, too,“ said the 22-year-old, who last Sunday gave his new employer its first season win at a 'cross race in Vechta. „My form is right and I am motivated. And the course in Strullendorf is good for me.“
The circle of favorites around Milram's Voß and Walsleben can expect a relatively flat course at the Concordia Strullendorf, one on which no big surprise is expected.
