Double engagement for the girls of Selle Italia-Ghezzi

There's great expectations in team Selle Italia-Ghezzi for the upcoming events of the international calendar that will see the team working on two fronts, in Holland, with the triptych of races of Ronde Van Drenthe, and in China, with two races of the Tour of Chongming Island.

In Holland the first race will be tomorrow with the "8 van Dwingeloo Drenthe" followed on saturday by Novilon Eurocup Ronde van Drenthe (both races ranked 1.1) and then on monday with the third round of the World Cup, the Unive Ronde van Drenthe, very hard race of 138 km, during which the girls will face three times the ascent of Vamberg and several stretches of cobblestones: Martine Bras is very motivated and determined to get other important results as the fifth place obtained last sunday at the Tour of Flanders. «Obviously the race where I want to do better is that one on Monday - explains the dutch girl - because it is very important for me and the team obtain annother a good placement in the World Cup but, along with other girls, ww will try to be protagonists in all three races». The girls in the race will be conducted by the sports director Fortunato Lacquaniti.

Another group of girls, however, will leave on april 14 to go to Shanghai and race the Tour of Chongming Island, an individual time trial on april 17 and a short stages race from april 18 to 21. This race will be an excellent opportunity for the youngsters to make experience, as has already happened at the Tour of Qatar and as explains the team president Walter Ricci Petitoni who will lead the team in China: «We are the only one italian team at the start and this will be one more incentive to do well: the girls are young and will have a good chance to battle with very good athletes, especially in plains and sprinting. Romoli has shown good things in Costa Etrusca and, although the route is completely flat, we want to be leaders and maybe hit the podium or the success that we miss so far».
