Team Liquigas aims to make its mark at the Italian Time Trial Championship around the roads of Montichiari on Sunday, 22nd June, by fielding hotshot Manuel Quinziato. The 28-year-old from Bolzano performed well at the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré and is now ready to launch an attack on Pinotti, the outgoing champion and firm favourite. « When we returned from the Vuelta a Catalunya, our preparation involved stage races in the mountains and competing in the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré, all of which went without a hitch, » said Manuel Quinziato « It’s a good starting point: when you work as well as you can there is no room for regrets no matter how things turn out. I’m in form, as I proved to myself in the Dauphiné prologue. »

The only less positive note is the tumble he took during the last stage of the French race: «I fell on a downhill stretch and banged my back: luckily I landed on the grass otherwise the outcome would have been much worse. I got away with just a bit of backache. »

Following him aboard the fleet will be DS Dario Mariuzzo.
