As of this coming Saturday, Team Milram will be at the start line of the Tour de Suisse (June 13-2 / UCI-ProTour). Led by Swiss residents Linus Gerdemann (Kreuzlingen) and Gerald Ciolek (Ermatingen), the German ProTour team is entering the final phase of preparations for the Tour de France. „We will be starting with a strong team. After our last successes, we are aiming for a good placing in the general classification,“ said Sports Director Christian Henn. “Another objective is to win a stage. I’m sure we will make a good showing in Switzerland.”

The Tour de Suisse, together with the French Dauphiné Libéré, counts as the last big preparation race for the Tour de France in July. There will therefore be many international rivals. Regarding the overall classification, Gerdemann will be up against such riders as defending champion Roman Kreuziger (Liquigas). Ciolek will be racing against other fast men on the flat stages. On the rare stages possibly finishing in bunch sprints, the Cologne native will test himself against riders such as Mark Cavendish (Columbia), Oscar Freire (Rabobank) and Thor Hushovd (Cervélo).

The Tour de Suisse starts on Saturday with a prologue in the Grand Duchy of Liechtenstein. The overall victory will be decided amongst the climbers that also have good time trialling abilities. Before the ultimate race against the clock in the Swiss capital of Bern, the decisive mountain top finishes will be in Serfaus, Austria, on day five and Crans Montana on day eight.
