Niki Terpstra (Team Milram) brought in the seventh victory this season for the German ProTour team by winning the opening prologue of the Ster Elektrotoer (June 17-21/UCI Category 2.1).  The 25-year-old, who last week won a stage in the Dauphine Libere and wore the leader's jersey for a day, won the 6.9 kilometer long prologue of the Dutch stage race in Gemert.  Second behind the Dutch rider was his countryman Lieuwe Westra (Vacansoliel) ahead of Piet Rooijakkers of Team Skil-Shimano.  Niki Terprstra covered the nearly seven kilometer long course in 7:59 minutes and now leads the overall rankings by two seconds ahead of Westra in second and seven seconds ahead of Rooijakkers in third.

„I am very happy.  When I saw the course, I hoped that I could do well here.  That it was good enough for first place is of course fantastic,“ said a happy Niki Terpstra at the finish.  „Our team now goes highly motivated into the next days and we will do all we can to hold on to the overall lead.“
