Fabiana Luperini charged-up for season's final

The Giro d'Italia finished in sixth place and without any stage victory certainly did not go as hoped but Fabiana Luperini is more motivated than ever to make a great final season: «For various reasons, I arrived at the Giro not in the best condition and in the stage of the Monte Serra I suffered a bit the bad weather: however, the values were clear and we could not do more. Of course, there is a little regret for that first stage, the balance would have been completely different».
Paradoxically, now, the operation that has slowed Fabiana in the first part of this season could favor her in the coming months: «That small operation in March stopped me for a little - said Fabiana Luperini - because I was unable to force a lot during my training and thus I wasn't able to reach the best condition. In previous years usually arrived tired at the last races of the season so this time I hope to get some more energy».
The main objective becomes now the World Championship that will be disputed in Mendrisio in Switzerland on 26 September: «I want to do a great race, the route is hard and I think it is very suitable for my features. Obviously the participation does not depend on me so I want to deserve a call, maybe doing well in the Giro di Toscana where they have never managed to do something good».
Tomorrow Fabiana will start in Internationalen Thüringen-Rundfahrt, a stage race in Germany which has a quite hard rout: «Yes it is true, all the stages are quite hard even if there are no long climbs. But I'm going there without great ambitions, maybe I could test myself in one stage but I want to begin to prepare well for the World Championship. Back in Italy I will make a small break because it's necessary after two stage races in stages and then I'll focus only on Mendrisio».
In the Thüringen-Rundfahrt, besides Fabiana Luperini, the will also be Bagdonaviciute, Bras, Foresi, Tamanini and Zogli: there will be six stages including an individual time trial of 23 km. From July 27-30, instead, Giada Borgato, Gloria Presti and Silvia Valsecchi will compete in the Italian track Championships that will be held on the velodrome "Ottavio Bottecchia" in Pordenone.
