Luisa Tamanini takes the lead in Thüringen Rundfahrt

The period of good form of Luisa Tamanini continues and, after the victory in the Mediterranean Games and the Tour of Italy in support of Fabiana Luperini, she still collects the fruits of her work: in the second stage of the Thüringen Rundfahrt the rider from Trenti was protagonist with a long breakaway and the final sprint she was beaten by german Charlotte Becker; thanks to the time bonification on the finish line and on intermediate sprints Luisa Tamanini has managed to reach the first position in the general classification by just 2" and tomorrow she will wear the yellow jersey.
Luisa Tamanini and Charlotte Becker made the decisive attack with almost 10 km left after a long escape with five other cyclists, including another rider of the Selle Italia-Ghezzi, Fabiana Luperini. The sports director Walter Zini tells how the race went: «We have done a good race and we work a lot in the escape because we had two athletes and some of the other had to wait for their leaders. First we tried with Fabiana but they immediately close the gap, then Luisa attacked together with the german and they were able to take a good advantage while the riders behind were caught by the group. Unfortunately we miss the victory but the leader jersey is a great satisfaction. Tomorrow it will be another stage pretty hard and we will do everything to defend our position: that the advantage is pretty small but we'll try».
Tomorrow's stage will start and end in Schleiz, it'll be 128.4 kilometers long and will present three king of the mountain sprints.
