Luperini and Tamanini called in the national team for the World Championship

A total of seven girls of the Selle Italia-Ghezzi will race in Mendrisio. From tomorrow Giro della Toscana

At the World Championship that will be held on Saturday, September 26th in Mendrisio the italian national team will also count on Fabiana Luperini and Luisa Tamanini: the two cyclists of the Selle Italia-Ghezzi showed throughout the season to be very competitive on a demanding course as the swiss one. Fabiana Luperini is very pleased with this call: «Being called for the Worlds is always nice because it means that during the season it was done a good job. The course is hard, I like it so I think that I can do a great race: we are also not too far from Italy and then the motivations will be even stronger. Now I'm going to the Giro di Toscana to improve my condition and trying to test myself against very strong athletes». In addition to two italian girls there are also five other cyclists from the Selle Italia-Ghezzi which will race in Mendrisio: Martine Bras with the national team of Holland, Kaytee Boyd with New Zealand, Sigrid Corneo with Slovenia, Giuseppina Grassi with Mexico (she will take part also in the time trial) and Oxana Kozonchuk with Russia; all the girls will play important role in their own team and the hope is obviously to do well aiming as high as possible.
Before the World Cup, however, there is still room for the last race of the season for the jersey of the Selle Italia-Ghezzi, the Giro della Toscana-Memorial Michela Fanini. This classic stage race, now in its 14th edition, is a key appointment for approaching the World Championship: the Selle Italia-Ghezzi will race with eight athletes captained by Fabiana Luperini, who wants to do a good result in her land. Besides Fabiana there will be also Boyd, Bozzolo, Bras, Grassi, Kozonchuk, Tamanini and Valsecchi.
