The Giro di Sardegna has a new green and blue winner after Bennati in 2009: Roman Kreuziger. Liquigas-Doimo’s captain held the leadership won after the 2nd stage and the advantage of 4’’ in respect of Horner (RadioShack).
«It’s a team victory – affirms Kreuziger – that pointed out how much this group is united and our aim to be protagonist, always and everywhere. The help of Nibali is an example, as the management of the race. This attitude will allow us to gain many satisfactions during this season». Regarding his performance Kreuziger affirms to be satisfied: «I wanted to know the reaction of my legs after the hard work on Teide and, apart from tiredness, I’m happy for my condition. Feelings got better day by day and now I feel ready to face Paris-Nice with ambitions. On Tuesday I’ll do last test with trainer Paolo Slongo to compare this data with Teide’s results: I await an encouraging result».
Directeur sportif Stefano Zanatta appreciates the aim of the team: «We’re in good condition and the harmony among teammates is a very good signal in view of the most important events. Pity that we wasn’t lucky in sprint arrival: both Guarnieri both Sabatini showed good form». At the end, Zanatta analyses the performances of Nibali and Kreuziger in view of Tirreno-Adriatico and Paris-Nice: «Giro di Sardegna was a useful test and both the riders stand it. They work to gain race rhythm and to refine the condition: I’m sure they can run as protagonists».
Liquigas-Doimo will end his transfer in Sardegna tomorrow with Classica Sarda Sassari-Olbia, road race of 187 kilometres.
